​March 25th: Sponsorship Campaign has Begun

 

Cooper Studios has begun its sponsorship campaign and released its pilot project video, get donating, sharing and tweeting! We only have 58 days remaining to raise the funding we need!

 

​March 31st: Initial Target raised! Lets keep going! 

 

Cooper Studios' Indiegogo campaign and promotional video has succesfully smashed through our initial target raising £3,275! However this is just our safety net figure ensuring that we can just get by operating. So please keep spreading the word and helping us achieve our vision. ​June 17th: Hatfield Day Event 

 

Cooper Studios' headed down to Hatfield Day, one of the biggest days in the calender with festival-esque atmosphere. A perfect day for lots of PIMM'S, Art and Music. Photos and videos of the 8ft x 16ft art installation we did are coming soon.

 

​September 1st: 'Get in' Build Begins 
 

Cooper Studios' Installation team have begun their work on the two rooms rented from Empty Shop in the heart of Durham City. Scraping back the damp walls and building new temporary walls is looking more daunting than anticipated. Full album of photos available in Gallery page.

 

​September 30th: 'Get in' Build Finishes
 

Cooper Studios' Installation team have Finished their work transforming the space into our dream studios. With Christian Cooper Ellinas heading up the build and carpentry and Sofia taking on the decorating we have finally finished a very ambitious build.

​October 1st -2nd: Durham Freshers' Fair 
 

Sofia, Christian and Emma Head down to the Freshers' Fair to let the university know about the organisation and all the upcoming events that they can involved in. These new Posters design by Christian and Sofia, using artwork from Olivia Verelst and Sofia were put up all over Durham!

 

​October 3rd: Studio opens it's doors to members! 
 

The Studio has opened and the members after being inducted are getting used to their new space.

 

Latest News 

​November 30th - Dec 2nd: Dystopia

The theatre wing of Cooper Studios has put on a fantastic immersive theatre production called Dystopia. Taking place across foor floors the entire building was converted into a monolithic dystopian state taking inspiration from Blade Runner, Children of Men and Metropolis. After selling out of it 400 tickets in two days check out the footage from one expereince in our film section.

​March 17th: £100 Generous donation and Pilot project video almost ready to go live!

 

Cooper Studios recieved a lovely donation of £100 from Lucy Slater! The pilot project video is also nearly finished and the sponsorship campaign in its final stages of editing!

 

​February 24th: £200 Generous donation

 

Cooper Studios recieved its first private donation of £200! The donors, for such a donation, will recieve a mounted piece of art taken from the pilot project signed by all the Pilot Project artists with a small letter from the artist the work is taken from as a complementary token of our appreciation.

 

​February 21st: Exhibition of Pilot Project 

 

On the final night of the Pilot Project Empty Shop hosted our first exhibition where a large amount of people attended to see the work which Cooper Studios members had been doing from 9 till 5 for a week. The artists where there to explain to the guests their work whilst they enjoyed a variety of locally brewed craft beers supplied by Empty Shop. The evening was a big success, with interviews and photography with the Palatinate newspaper and Bubble Magazine taken for their next prints and online publications.

 

​February 17th - 21st: Pilot Project

 

 Cooper studios covered the walls of Empty Shop in amazing art, all designed and produced by our members. During this week we also filmed the entire experience as well as documenting it with a 360 timelapse. Keep watching this space for the release of our promotional video. The turn out and effort was incredible.

 

​February 11th: £500 Blueprint Kickstart Award From Durham Enterprise

 

Cooper Studios was awarded the Blueprint Kickstart Award from Durham Enterprise, bringing us even closer to our goal, Thank you!

 

​February 2nd: £400 Sponsorship Hatfield Trust

Hatfield College Trust has very generously agreed to commit four hundred pounds to Cooper Studios!

 

​January 9th: First Commission request

Today Cooper Studios recieved its first request for a large oil painting to be made by one of our members. All members interested in carrying out this commission please get in touch at cooperartstudios@gmail.com.

 

​December 1st:  Members group meeting

Come along to the Bishop Langley at 6 pm on Sunday for a quick drink and for a chance for us all to meet as a group, talk about the studio, Projects people want to start, keep you updated with the progress.

 

​November 18th: Bid placed for Fowler's yard and Members bios

Today Cooper Studios placed a bid for the empty studio in Fowler's yard. We have heard that there has been a lot of interest in it so fingers crossed the Council like our idea the best!

 Can all members send me a a short bio of 70-100 words with some photos to update our members page please.

 

​November 15th-16th: Important meeting

There will be a very important meeting on friday and saturday (you only have to come to one) in the vennels cafe courtyard at 12. Keep an eye out for emails for us with more infomation. It will be an oppurtunity for us to fully explain what it is we have to offer and what Cooper studios can do for you. It will also be the first oppurtunity to sign up for next years membership, officially. Remember due to space there is limited membership so don not miss your chance! PLEASE RSVP TO THE EMAIL IF YOU ARE COMING TO VENNELS MEETING.

​November 11th: Fowlers yard studio viewing

Cooper studios went with the Durham Assets Management department to view an amazing studio down in Fowlers yard, just behind the Super Dry store and on the rivers edge near Lenoards cafe. It was absolutely perfect and just in budget if we get enough members to sign up! Followed this up with a meeting with our business mentor from Durham creatives, they are really helpful, definately go check them out if your thinking of setting up any creative businesses here in Durham.
